Teaching music to anyone requires patience. I understand that each student is unique and that their learning style is going to be unique. As a parent and a musician, I teach each student in a way that speaks to them and let’s them have fun in the process. I encourage the students to use their own style of music for learning to further connect them to learning.
Whether someone wants to start at the very beginning and learn to read music, learn tabs, brush up on their chops or learn a specific song for an audition or performance, I direct the lessons specific to the students need. Many of my students have gone on to attend performing art schools in the Triad area.
“Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas.”- PBS. Neural activity is different. Images actually show changes in brain activity. It uses parts of the brain that academic studies don’t access making the brain work harder. In turn, most students will excel academically.
